Bielen, Czeslaw M.
Czeslaw M. Bielen, 85, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away at Regency Heights of Stamford on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was born in Dlugie, Poland on October 30, 1928 to the late Stanislaw and Bronislawa (Burczyk) Bielen. Czeslaw grew up in wartime Poland and, post-World War II, served in the Polish Army where he rose to the rank of Corporal. He emigrated from Poland to the United States in 1964 and settled in Stamford where, with his wife Maria, they raised their family. He worked as a machinist for Pitney Bowes and enjoyed a 22-year career. After retirement, he served as a member of the PB Oval Club. He loved his church and was a faithful parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus in Stamford, where he proudly served as an usher over the course of many years. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and was actively involved with the Pulaski Day Parade Committee, dedicating countless hours to the parade's preparations and coordination. In 1997, he was named the parade's Grand Marshal, representing Stamford's contingent at the parade in New York City. Truly a farmer at heart, Czeslaw also enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and neighbors. Above all else, Czeslaw loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and live forever in the hearts of his loved ones. Czeslaw is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years; Maria (Wenta) Bielen, their three children; Celeste Baran (Thomas), Stanislaw Bielen (Elizabeth) and Margaret LaPolice, his nine grandchildren; Michelle, Richard and Kristin Baran, Amelia, Andrew and Adam Bielen and Matthew, Christopher and Lauren LaPolice, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Czeslaw was preceded in death by his brother; Edward Bielen and sister; Aleksandra Rysz. The Bielen family will receive the sympathy of friends and family on the evening of Sunday, May 18th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 19th at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 305 Washington Blvd., in Stamford. Interment will follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, in Darien.
