Decker, John E.
Wellsburg, NY: John E. Decker, 73, of Lowman, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of the late Jean E. (Macomber) Urbaniak Decker who passed away on December 26, 2011. The couple married June 26, 1965 and had 46 happy years together. John was born on August 2, 1940 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Lacey G. and Bertha May (Hodge) Decker. He was a US Army veteran and then was employed as a truck driver for Atlantic Lumber until his retirement in 1994. John enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. John is survived by his children, Sandy (Jim) Stage of Tioga, PA, Clarence (Shirley) Urbaniak and Scott Decker, both of Elmira, NY, and Cheryl Bennett of Lowman, NY; twenty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond G. Decker of Elmira, NY and Robert L. Decker of Lockwood, NY; his sisters, Anna Mitchell of Kemper, TX and Alice Moore of North Carolina; along with several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; along with his brothers, Mallard, Donald, and Roy Decker. Family and friends are welcome to call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Burial will follow cremation in Woodlawn.
