Ransey, Howard  
RANSEY, Howard age 90 of Elmira, NY. He was born November 5, 1925 in Corinth, MS, son of the late Philip and Addie (Turner) Ransey and passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elsie; children Howard, Jr, of Sorrento, FL, Lawrence of Elmira, Theresa of Elmira, Michael of Pompano Beach, FL and Joseph of Ocala, FL; grandchildren Joseph, Tiara, Michael, Ciara, Erica, Shenel, Josh, Alesha and Jeremy; 14 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law Eldred Pannell of Elmira along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime canine companion, Biscuit. Mr. Ransey was a communicant and usher at Ss. Peter & Paul Church. He retired from Corning, Inc. and was formerly employed with Ann Page Foods. He served proudly during WWII in the U.S. Army as a member of the Buffalo Soldiers Infantry. He loved attending many of his children's sporting events; took great pride in his annual garden; was an avid fisherman; was a wonderful neighbor. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Howard's request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday. August 30th at 3 pm in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Howard through donations to the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Rd., Bldg. 160, 1st Fl., Rochester, NY 14618 or National Autism Association, 1 Park Ave., Suite 1, Portsmouth, RI 02871. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Rollins, Sheryl Lynn  
Rollins, Sheryl Lynn Sheryl Lynn Rollins, 45, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Cayuga Medical Center. Sheryl had been a licensed childcare provider in Ithaca for 22 years. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. Sheryl is survived by her mother, Sharron Rollins (Patrick Spirawk); her nephew, Tyler James Hall-Rollins and great nephew, Takoda. She is also survived by her aunts, Beverly Snow-Crester (Dickie) and Jeanette Murray (Bill); step sister, Jamie Leigh Moses (Joe); step brother, Patrick Joseph Esposito (Amanda Giannone); cousins and many dear friends, including longtime family friend, Janet Cleary. Sheryl was predeceased by her father, Arthur Rollins and her brother, Jamie Rollins. A celebration of Sheryl's life will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Haunt, 702 Willow Ave., Ithaca with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes or to Hospicare.
