Baccile, Anthony J.  
BACCILE, ANTHONY J. Age 86 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Tuesday March 24, 2015. Tony was born January 12, 1929 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Liberatore and Elizabeth Scaringe Baccile. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters and his daughter-in-law Suzanne McGettrick Baccile. Tony was an outstanding athlete in high school and graduated from Elmira Free Academy. Tony was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with The US Marine Corps. He served with The First Marine Division in Korea during the assault and seizure of Inchon, the capture and securing of Seoul, fought in the Wonsan-Hungman-Chosin Province campaigns and south and central Korea attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was wounded in action on June 3, 1951 and was a member of "The Chosin Few". Tony was a graduate of Morrisville Agricultural & Technical College where he met his future wife Joy. Tony married his wife Joy Bray Baccile on October 15, 1955 and they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on October 15, 2015. He owned and operated Baccile Paving and Landscaping in Horseheads, NY prior to his retirement. He was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY since 1959. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling for several years. He was a Small Fry Football coach for many years in Horseheads. Tony enjoyed his trips to casinos and playing Quick-Draw after a round of golf at Soaring Eagles. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Tony is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joy Bray Baccile; his loving children: Alan J. & Angela Baccile, Gary A. & Lori Baccile, Gail Sands & fiance Paul Bernard, Tyrone M. & Kathy Baccile all of Horseheads, NY and Dawn & Dr. Alfred Tinger of Yorktown Heights, NY; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Theresa Olson and Angela Popovich of Elmira, NY and Betty Dandrea of Horseheads, NY; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD ST HORSEHEADS, NY on Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 5-8PM. Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church. Interment in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Baccile. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Tony through memorials to St. Mary Our Mother School 811 Westlake St Horseheads, NY 14845, Care First (Southern Tier Hospice) 3895 Meads Creek Road Painted Post, NY 14870, or to a charity of one's choice.

Bakalyan, Richard "Dicky B" Was born January 29, 1931 in Watertown, MA the son of the late Nishan William and Elsie Florence (Fancy) Bakalyan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center at the age of 84. "Dicky B" was a lifetime member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. He was a humble, loving man who enjoyed making people happy with his craft. He was a talented Artist and Writer also. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring Richard's life and celebrating his memory on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Breesport Baptist Church 1811 North Chemung Road Breesport, NY at 10:30 AM. Buss, Carl A.  
Buss, Carl A. Carl A. Buss, 93, of Wellsboro, went to be with his Savior early in the morning of March 26, 2015, at The Green Home. He was the husband of Helen M. (Newcomb) Buss who preceded him in death in September 2009. Carl was born August 3, 1921, in Wellsboro, the son of the late John E. and Matilda (Klouse) Buss. He worked for Corning Glass/GTE, Wellsboro as a Ribbon Machine Mechanic Group Leader, retiring in 1984. Carl was a member of the Free Methodist Church for 50 years and God's Family Fellowship for the past eight years. He was a lifelong resident of Wellsboro. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union. Surviving is his son, Carl Brion Buss (Carol), Warrenton, VA; daughters, Carol Cavanaugh (Grant) and Brenda Langs (James), all of Wellsboro; grandsons, Kevin Cavanaugh (Michelle), Loyalsock, Keith Cavanaugh (Amy), James Langs, all of Wellsboro, Shane Buss and Carson Buss, Warrenton, VA; granddaughters, Brittany Langs, Wellsboro and Skyler Buss, Warrenton, VA; great-grandsons, Cole, Chase and Cy Cavanaugh, Loyalsock; great-granddaughters, Taylor, Abbye and Brenna Cavanaugh, Wellsboro and Callie Cavanaugh, Loyalsock; step-granddaughters, Robin Mast, Tammy Langs and Kara VanBuskirk (Terry); step great- granddaughter, Mattison VanBuskirk; step great-grandsons, Ryan Mast and Mitchell VanBuskirk. Friends and family are invited to Carl's Life Celebration on Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 6-7 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home", 139 Main Street, Wellsboro. Funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Joe Wagner officiating. Interment in Wellsboro Cemetery. CARDINALE, James P. Age 50 of Elmira, NY. He was born January 13, 1965 in Elmira to Rosario and Laurene (Volker) Cardinale and passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his father Rosario in 1990 and is survived by his son James Michael; mother Laurene both of Elmira; brother Michael (Cynthia) Cardinale of Las Vegas, NV; nephews Nicholas, Steven (Janneice) and their daughter Lilo of Las Vegas, NV; many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. James graduated from Elmira Free Academy and was employed with Pudgie's Pizza (Southside) for 20 years until he became disabled. He loved his 2 dogs Damian and Bella; was an avid sports fan (the Yankees and the Raiders) and enjoyed WWE wrestling. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, March 29th from 2 to 4 pm. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 30th at 10 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Rev. Scott Kubinski, Celebrant. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

Cogswell, Thomas F.  
COGSWELL, Thomas F. Formerly of Denver, CO, passed away at the age of 64 on December 28, 2014 in Ithaca, NY. Tom was born in Elmira on August 30, 1950, the youngest son of the late Michael Clinton Cogswell and Victoria Knott Cogswell. Tom graduated from Elmira Free Academy and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Regis College in Denver, CO. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Jordan Cogswell of Dorchester, MA; daughter Grace of Denver, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Dorothy Cogswell of Skaneateles, NY; Edward and Carol Cogswell of Chicago IL; Clinton and Jane Cogswell of Concord, NH; John Cogswell and ex-wife Susan of Elmira. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom grew up in Elmira and moved to Colorado after completing high school. He made his life in Colorado, found some mountain property, built his own log cabin, and lived many blissful years there. He particularly loved the Rocky Mountains and climbed Longs Peak yearly with a group of friends. A Memorial Service will be held at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

Dailey, Gerald L. (Jerry)  
DAILEY, Gerald (Jerry) L. ELMIRA: Age 79 and a long-time resident of Elmira went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 7. 2015. Jerry was born in Williamsport, PA.; March 24, 1935 to William Dailey and Dorothy Emerick Dailey; both deceased. He is predeceased by his brother Charles (June) and sister, Judy (Rand) Murnane. He is survived by sisters Penny (Charles) Noll who shared birthdays with him, Linda (Edward-deceased) Coleman, Ethel (Jan) Verkey; and brothers William (Rita), Dennis, Duane (Charlotte) and Gary Dailey; and a loving step-mother, Marion Dailey. As a young man Jerry did superior paint jobs and mechanical work on foreign cars at a gas station at the end of Kinyon Street for many years. Throughout his life he enjoyed buying, fixing and selling cars. His love was in the junk business. He enjoyed getting a good bargain on anything and passing those savings onto family and friends. Jerry was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever. Hovanesian, Eleanor Sherer  
Hovanesian, Eleanor Sherer Eleanor Sherer Hovanesian, age 89 of Rockport, TX passed away at her home on Saturday, March 21, 2015. She was born in 1926 to Harry and Bessie Sherer in Knoxville, PA. She attended Syracuse University where she majored in English and journalism. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Eleanor was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas E. Norton. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Van Hovanesian; one son, Thomas E. (Susan) Norton, Jr. and one daughter, Sheri Jean Norton, both of Houston. In Ithaca, NY, she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star. She belonged to a group at Cornell University called the Friendship Wives Club, comprised of wives of professors and students attending the university from foreign countries. She helped wives from Germany, India, Japan, England, South America and various other countries, learn how to drive. Eleanor has stayed in touch with former Cornell students' wives as far away as Botswana, Africa. In monthly meetings, Eleanor learned how to make the major dishes from the women's countries. She also helped the families find housing, warm clothing and helped teach them English. In return, she was taught the art of flower arranging from the Japanese. After marrying Van Hovanesian in 1974, she moved to Westchester County, NY where the couple commuted to New York City to work. Eleanor worked for 15 years in Manhattan as a receptionist at a "factor" bank, answering and directing calls for 350 people. The Hovanesians moved to Rockport in 1989. She was active in the former Aransas County Republican Wives Club, serving for several years as treasurer. She also was an avid supporter of the Aransas County Public Library and the City of Rockport community pool, where she swam regularly. Eleanor served as the memorial chairman for the local American Cancer society and handled donations before the advent of computerized locations. She drove her 1968 Jaguar XKE, which featured a Cancer Society placard, in local parades. Family will receive friends at the Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 W. Main St., Elkland on Saturday from 12:00-1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM with Rev. Eugene Charsky officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to AIM Hospice, 703 East Concho St., Rockport, TX 78382. Koehler, Eleanora  
Koehler, Eleanora "Ella" Age 97, formerly of 655 Roe Ave. Elmira, passed away peacefully at Bethany Manor on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Ella was born in Elmira on December 25, 1917, a daughter of George and Meta (Leiber) Koehler. She is predeceased by sisters, Harriet K. Brett, Eugenia K. Horan and Dorothy E. Koehler; sister-in-law Evelyn Koehler; brothers-in-law, James Smith, Robert Brett and Dr. H. Walter Horan; nephew John G. Koehler. Ella is survived by brother Ernest G. Koehler of Endwell NY; nephews and nieces, James Smith of Elmira Heights, Harriet Horan of Elmira, Mark Horan of Madison WI, Susan Enders of Cazenovia NY, Martha King of Elmira, Edwin (Diane) Koehler of Nashville TN; nine great nieces and great nephews; two great-great nephews; and several cousins. Ella was a U S Navy veteran stationed in Hawaii during WW II. After the war she lived and worked in Los Angeles for a year before moving back to Elmira. She worked at Elmira Burial Case for many years until its closing. She later worked part time at Deister and Butler Jewelers for several years. Ella was a long time member of North Presbyterian Church. She had volunteered at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and Meals on Wheels. Family was extremely important to Ella and she adored her nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in Ella's memory may be directed to the Arnot Ogden Medical Center Auxiliary or the Children's Miracle Network, both at 600 Roe Ave., Elmira NY 14905. Ella's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Bethany Manor for all their compassionate care.
