Etha Ann Kuentz

Kuentz, Etha Ann

Age 84, passed away Mon. Feb. 10, 2014 in the care of her loving family following an extended illness.

Born on May 23, 1929 in Elmira, Etha was the daughter of the late Norman & Marian Edwards Turner. Etha was a creative person who loved quilting, knitting, crafting and ceramics, and taught anyone who wanted to learn. She loved cats, fabric, Pepsi, reading, reminiscing, sea shells and walking the beaches of Florida. Her children who survive: JoAnn Kuentz, Elmira; Mike Kuentz, NYC; Margie (Tom) Rodgers, Elmira; John (Holly) Kuentz, TX; Mary Kuentz, Waikoloa, HI; and David Kuentz, Watkins, Glen; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Elizabeth) Zito, Dorynne Brock, Delaney Brock, Coty Hoffman, Timothy Morris, Mikaela Kuentz, and Samuel Kuentz; four great grandchildren, Taylor Kozemko, Audrey Nava, Tristan Vizcaino, Maizy Adams; several nieces, nephews.

In addition to her parents, Etha was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Kieran Kuentz; grandparents, Samuel & Bertha Robinson Turner; sister, Norma Turner Mold; daughter, Marian Elizabeth Kuentz.

Our deepest gratitude goes to CareFirst Nurse Kate Hembrooke for the extraordinary and dedicated care she gave our mother; Mimi Gridley and Alida Schamel for their friendship and visits and Fr. Rick Farrell for his prayers and spiritual support. A special thank you to Vickie and John Schultz for being mom's long time friends, supporters and cheerleaders. Your friendships meant so much to her.

Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Sat. Feb. 15, 2014 between the hours of 10 am - 12 noon. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon. Interment will take place at the family's convenience in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Chemung County SPCA or Care First in her memory.
