Bliss, George Kemp

George Kemp Bliss, 83, of Elmira, NY, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2013, in the comfort of his home. George was born in 1930 to Earl L. and Martha H. (Kemp) Bliss in Wellsboro, PA. He served in the U.S. Army and later was a high school chemistry/physics teacher, both in the U.S. schools in Germany and at EFA in Elmira, NY. He then began a new career as an investment broker and achieved his CFP degree. George served on the National Ski Patrol at Denton Hill for 35 years and as their Director for 8 years. He obtained his national certification from the NSP in 1982. He was an avid skier, hunter, fisherman, and camper. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Cole Bliss; older brother, Earl (Miriam) Bliss, Jr.; son, Jody (Kelly Palmer) Bliss of Rock Stream, NY; daughter, Kristen (Tom) Perri of Webster, NY; grandsons, Shawn and Cole Bliss; and granddaughter, Tori Perri. George was predeceased by his eldest brother, Donald Bliss (WWII) and sister, Aileen (Francis) English. A special thanks to all the caregivers from Hospice (Care First) for their loving care. And a very special thank you to Cathy. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
