Age 85, fell asleep in the arms of God and found by her special friend and neighbor, Gracie on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. She was born on June 19, 1928 in Elmira, NY to the late Edward Kearney and Janet Larson. She was raised by her grandmother, Pearl Hinds who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her husband, Robert on October 3, 1985, and recently her son, David on January 14, 2014 and sister, Doris. Helen is survived by her children, Jeanann (Robert) Brill of Elmira, who traveled daily with her and was her best friend and confidant, Margaret (Mark) Shaw of GA and Robert (Kim) Rennie of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Peter (Myriam Anaid Herrera) Bill, Robert Brill, Milan, John, Jimmy, Jeffery and Justin Brill, Kimberly Shaw and Jamie Rennie; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Emily, Kailyann (KK), Caden and Avarie Brill, Tucker and 4 other great-grandchildren; great-great grandson, Lucas Brill; brothers, Ralph (Susan) Larson of Watkins Glen and Walter Kearney of Rochester; sisters, Evelyn (Deke) of DE and Karen (Quentin) Giles of Beaver Dams; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors; special friend, Jeanie Smith and neighbor, Gracie. Helen worked all her life and the last 10 years at the Express Mart in Horseheads retiring in October at the age of 85. She had no customers there only friends. She had an outgoing personality and the urge to gamble which fit her nickname of Irish. Her grandchildren, KK and Ava stayed overnight at her house the night before her passing and enjoyed a meal of waffles and gravy that Helen prepared for them. The family will more than miss her. Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service for Helen on Saturday, February 22nd at 11 AM in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
