Welshans, Henry H.

Age 87 of Watkins Glen and formerly of Elmira NY, passed away Fri. Nov. 9, 2012 at Schuyler Hospital following declining health.

Born on Sept. 24, 1925 in Spencer, NY, Henry was the son of the late, Samuel & Eva Hovencamp Welshans. He served his country during WWII in the US Army 90th Infantry Div. Henry married Phyllis Parmelee in1951. He was employed by American LaFrance for many years. His interests included fishing and bowling. He was a dedicated fireman with the Golden Glow Fire Dept. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elmira for over 50 years and more recently attended First Baptist Church in Montour Falls.

Surviving is his loving family, wife, Phyllis Parmelee Welshans, Watkins Glen; children, Drusilla Welshans, Watkins Glen; Susan (Richard) McConnell, S. Waverly, PA; Tammy (Bill) Verity, Fayetteville, NY; and Timothy Welshans, Manlius; 6 grandchildren, Janet (Robert) Kracht, Danielle Verity, Amber Verity, Jessica Welshans, Emerson McConnell, Parmelee McConnell; 3 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nataile, and Noelle Kracht. Henry is also survived by his canine companion, "Lexi".

In honor of his wishes, Mr. Welshans will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Montour Falls, 221 W. South St. Montour Falls, NY 14865 on Sat. Nov. 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George Norton officiating. Memorials may be directed to the church, PO Box 578, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
