Brenzo, Joseph John
Age 82, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on May 20, 1930 in Elmira, NY to the late Dominic and Anna (Navone) Brenzo. He was predeceased by eight siblings. Joseph is survived by his wife, Winifred Mae (Shelden) Brenzo of Horseheads; sons, Joseph (Mary) Brenzo and Jerry Brenzo both of Horseheads and Jamie Brenzo of Elmira; grandchildren, Octavia Volante' Brenzo, Oriana Anissa Brenzo and D'mitri Brenzo; Melissa Ann Brenzo, Gina Marie Brenzo and his special one, Stephanie Mae Brenzo who will always remember him as her "Poppy"; sister, Carrie Crittenden of Elmira; sister-in-law, Mildred Giammichle of GA; special nephew and friend, Robert "Butch" Dense of Horseheads; along with several nieces and nephews. Joseph was a veteran
of the USAF serving during the Korean War
. He retired as a correctional officer from the Elmira Correctional Facility and was a member of the Horseheads American Legion and the VFW
Post 901 in Elmira. Joseph enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and his homemade Italian sausage with his one and only grandson, D'mitri. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A prayer service will take place there at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, with Father Richard Farrell as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery with full military honors. The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at the AOMC for all their care and support given to Joe and his family.
