Leota M. Macensky, 92, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Charles Cole Hospital, Coudersport, PA. Born April 14, 1920 in Germania, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Menken) Gilbert. Leota enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, tending to her numerous house plants, and most of all, spending time with her family. Surviving are a son, Steve (Kathy) Macensky, Galeton; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Marcy) Wallace, Michelle Wallace, Andrew (Kelly) Macensky and Stephen (Linn) Macensky; six great grandchildren, Jarryed, Salima, Brittany, Drew, Gorgia and Alli; a sister, Catherine Davenport, Knoxville, PA; a sister-in-law, Shirley Gilbert, Punxsutawney, PA and several nieces and nephews. Leota was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Lorena Wallace; a brother, Leland Gilbert and a sister, Rita Mosch. Friends may call at St. Bibiana's Catholic Church in Galeton on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Following at 10:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty as Celebrant. Burial will be in Germania Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Galeton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Potter County Hospice.
