Victor R. Mengee, 88, of Stony Fork Road, Wellsboro, PA, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 22, 2014. Victor was born July 1, 1925, in Galeton, PA, the son of the late Theodore J. and Mabel E. (McCracken) Mengee. Victor was a retired employee of GTE Sylvania, Wellsboro, PA. He was a member of the Covington Baptist Church, Grand Canyon Camping Club and was a WW II Navy Veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Alaska. He enjoyed attending the U.S.S. Alaska reunions. He loved spending time with his family. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty J. (VanOrder) Mengee; two daughters, Cindra (Pete) Mosher, Vicki (Howard) Campbell, both of Wellsboro, PA; son, David (Terésa) Mengee, of Wellsboro, PA; seven grandchildren, Corey (Aleisha) Mosher, Casey (Leah) Mosher, Katie (T.J.) Freeman, Kamen (Tamara) Campbell, Brett and Steven Mengee, Brandon (Brittany) Perry; five great grandchildren; Conner and Elliana Mosher, Charlotte and Charity Freeman, Mason Perry; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Timothy. Victor was the last surviving sibling of eight children. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Covington Baptist Church. Pastor Adam Periera, his pastor, will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded. Burial will be private in the Niles Valley Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made in his memory to Covington Baptist Church, 2121 N. Williamson Rd.
