Bath, NY: Major Wesley D. Foster, age 93, of Bath, NY, died Friday, December 6, 2013, in the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center in Bath, NY. Born in Middletown, OH on July 27, 1920, he was the son of the late Samuel Benjamin and Grace Mae (Hill) Foster. He married M. Arena (McDonald) Foster on October 9, 1942 in Ohio. Major Foster served in the U. S. Army Air Corps from July 6, 1942 to January 4, 1946 as a Mess Sergeant in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II
. As an officer in the Salvation Army he served with his wife in nine appointments over 38 years, including an appointment in Elmira. He retired in 1985 from the Tonawanda, NY Corps. Major Foster is survived by his wife of 71 years, Major M. Arena Foster, retired; two daughters, Wiona Breighner of Mt. Vernon, OH and Naomi (David) Kelly of Neenah, MA; son, David (Martha) Foster of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Doug Breighner, Lindsey (Mike) Breighner, David Eric Kelly, Julia Kelly, Connie Foster, and Peter Foster; two great-grandchildren, Darynne and Taylor; sister, Mable McGee; and special niece, Jenny Wolfe. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel at 32 East Denison Parkway in Corning, NY, where a service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the Bath National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Salvation Army Corps at 214 Luzerne Ave, West Pittston, PA 18643, where his grandson Captain David Eric Kelly serves as the corps officer.
