William A. (Bill) Davidson, 85, died in Houston, Texas on September 27, 2012 where he resided with his son, Edward and daughter-in-law, Veronica. Born in 1927, he was a long time resident of Elmira, NY. He was the son of Arthur and Helen Davidson. He served in the Army of the United States during WWII as a translator/ interpreter in occupied Japan. He graduated from Southside High School and Cornell University where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1952. He began his career practicing large and small animal medicine with his father, Dr. Arthur C. Davidson, also a Cornell University graduate. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and worked in animal disease control and meat quality inspection. His wife Albina Jessup Davidson predeceased him after 56 years of marriage. They reared their children in Elmira, NY and were very active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church. William and Albina enjoyed traveling together to visit their children and grandchildren out of state. While traveling, they often stopped to visit interesting sites and great restaurants. Their partnership was truly a united force that enabled them to do volunteer work, and give much love and wisdom to their family. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Robert Reese of Eastham, MA; and his children, Scott Davidson of Vermont (Cedar and Gioia); Edward Davidson of Texas (Angelique and Reynaldo); and Barbara Davidson of Wisconsin (Thomas). Graveside services will take place in Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Southport on Sat. Oct. 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to your local .
