Vaughn Manwaring Obituary

MANWARING Vaughn J.

Age 87 of Elmira Heights, NY formerly of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday March 12, 2011 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Mrs. Manwaring was born May 20, 1923 in Wheeler, NY the daughter of the late George and Beulah Williamson Arnold. She was a graduate of Beardsley Business School and was a Legal Secretary for Attorney Henry Bush in Horseheads, NY. Vaughn married her husband Sidney J. Manwaring on February 12, 1949 and he pre-deceased her on July 9, 2006. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Carole E. Arnold on September 12, 1961. Vaughn was a member of Christ's United Methodist Church in Elmira, NY and is now a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Manwaring loved her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with them. Vaughn is survived by her loving and devoted daughters and son-in-law: Susan & Masami Ichikawa of Horseheads, NY and Janet Joki and her partner Phyllis Dombroski of Elmira Heights, NY; grandchildren: Melissa Williams, Davis & Lisa Joki, Elizabeth Delano, and Kaitlyn Joki; great grandchildren: Amanda Sue Williams, Jude Jonathan Williams, Sidney Vaughn VanOrder, Autumn Amber Joki, and Reece Allen Joki; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Tuesday March 15, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Mrs. Manwaring's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev. Fred S. Kelsey and the Rev. Michael Weeden officiating. Vaughn will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY next to her beloved husband Sidney and her beloved sister Carole. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Mrs. Manwaring through memorials to the American Lung Association in New York National Processing Center P.O. Box 7000 Albert Lea , MN 56007-8000 . The Family would like to give a Special Thank You to the Staff of 4D at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and to Dr. Reddy.

Mrs. M was my "other mother". She will always hold a very special place in my heart. She taught me how to sew and how to bake. She was an amazing woman. I have many happy memories up on Hickory Grove!! I'll miss you "Mom".

i knew vaughn from 2009 sad to say i didnt know her beautiful soul any longer, wished i had. she sure could play a heck of a game of cards. With love, respect and my sympathy to her family, she with surely be missed. keep her in our thoughts, minds and hearts and she will live on.
