Joined our heavenly Father on April 10, 2013 after complications from heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio. Beloved and most cherished wife of Edward J. O'Connell Jr. for over 50 years. Loving mother of Charles Ramos (Glenfield, NY), David (Betty) O'Connell of Pompano Beach, FL, Carrie (David) Drew of Toccoa, GA, Maureen (Charlie Burke) of Elmira, Patrick (Janeen) O'Connell of Daytona Beach, FL, Edward III (Barbara) O'Connell of Elmira, Mary (Patrick) O'Connor of Elmira and Jennifer (Patrick) Griffin of Elmira. Most loved Grandma to Paul, Michael, Emily, Krista, Katie, Beth, Danny, Matt, Tiffany, Christopher, Frankie, Maddie, Joshua, Briana, Tyler and Isabella. Great-Grandmother of Jett, Gage, JD, Sara, Maci, Bailey, Jack, & Jayli. Preceded in death by her parents Leona Waldron Kotel & Charles Kotel of Lowville, NY and her grandson Edward J. (Lil Eddie) O'Connell IV of Elmira. Charlotte will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, charity towards others and relentless support of her large family. A meal was always served at her home for anyone who entered the doorway. Her most cherished possession were her grandchildren whom she always nurtured with love and discipline. Her home was always filled with laughter and many people. Charlotte was a member of the Ladies of Charity and worked often in the Community Kitchen. She was an active member of St. Patrick's parish where she sang in the choir. In her younger years, Charlotte was involved with the election committee and sat on the Elmira School Board. She sang and performed at weddings and the annual community variety show. Charlotte will always be remembered for her beautiful voice. She was also an avid reader and gardener. Visitation will be held at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home, 1004 Lake St., Elmira., NY 14901 on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m. with Fr. John Desocio as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
