Grover, Sr., Frank N.

Age 83, of Southside, went to be with our Lord and Saviour Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Frank was born on June 16, 1929 to Ford and Margaret Mosher Grover. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years Wilma Carleen Leonard Grover; daughters, Bonnie (Steve) Krause of Kenai, AK, Connie (Rick) DeHaas of Elmira, Joyce (Dave) Ellis of Endicott and son, Frank (Chris) Grover Jr. of Elmira; grandchildren, Kevin, Dawn, Michael, Lisa, Lorie, John, Steven, Patty, Jessica and Ryan; and 19 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by 2 great grandchildren and by his siblings. Frank served his country honorably in the Army near the end of WW II and was awarded the WW II Victory medal. Retired from Thatcher Glass Mfg. as foreman of the carton shop after 30 years of service. Frank is one of the founding fathers of the East Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. and a past Chief of the Fire Dept. Frank was an avid amateur radio operator who made contact with hundreds of people across the U.S. and the world for that matter. On numerous occasions over the years he would make contact with our service men over sea's on the radio and get them in contact with family members via radio and telephone relay, they were always very appreciative of his effort. He was a member of the Elmira Heights VFW. He enjoyed his family, fishing, bowling, camping, computers and loved his dogs. At the family's request all services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers a donation in Frank's name can be made to the East Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. c/o Steve Davis, Chief, 191 Watercure Hill Rd., Elmira N.Y. 14901. Arrangements are being handled by Caywood's Funeral Home and Gardens, 1126 Broadway Ave., Elmira, NY 14904.
