Age 93 of Elmira, NY died peacefully on May 2, 2013 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility surrounded by his new-found friends. Doc is survived by daughter & son-in-law, Nancy & Cliff Hamilton; grandson, Derek(Denise) Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Brody, Hailey & Reiley Hamilton, all of Elmira. Doc was predeceased by his loving wife Mary Jane Knapp in 2000 & grandson Jamie Jack Hamilton in 2011. Doc was born in Watkins Glen, New York on March 26, 1920 He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Doc worked at Shepard Niles and installed parking meters all over the United States. He later opened & ran Jack's Auto Parts in Horseheads, NY. for many years. He was best known for his Docisms (lessons in life). Doc made friends wherever he went. His humor and wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at the BAKER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, May 7, from 3PM-5PM with services at the conclusion of calling hours. Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Interment of Doc's ashes will be at Woodlawn National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to the Resident Memorial Fund at the Chemung County Nursing Facility.
