Gardner, James C. (Cam)

Elkland, PA: James C. Gardner (Cam), age 56, First Street, Elkland, PA, lost his year-long battle with cancer Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at home with his loving family at his side. Cam was born May 27, 1955, in Blossburg, PA. He is the son of the late James and Jo Anne (Randall) Gardner. Cam was an extremely kind-hearted man. He appreciated the plight of the underdog and went out of his way throughout his entire life to lend a hand to those in need, human or otherwise. He was generous to a fault, often giving others that which he didn't have the resources to give. He loved his dogs and the multitude of other pets he had throughout his life, and his choice of pets ran the gamut! He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing. Cam had an amazing sense of humor and was certainly proud of his ability to make a funny. If you weren't paying attention and didn't get his sometimes subtle puns, he made sure you did by slapping his leg and giving you his toothy grin and contagious laugh. He was a man of faith and had strong convictions regarding religion and the state of the world. Cam was very well-read and enjoyed an audience in which to express his views. Cam also had eclectic taste in music and had an enormous music library. He enjoyed playing the guitar during his Saturday morning jams. Cam was ahead of his time, technologically speaking, and his expertise, wit, big heart, and uniqueness will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Cam is survived by his son, Craig Gardner of Mountain Top, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Jim Piper of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Stephanie Evon of Mountain Top, PA; daughter, Margo Evon of Chili, NY; and daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Mike Zarnecki of Elkland, PA; eight grandchildren, Austin Gardner, Eliana, Jimmy, and Avonlea Piper, Alexander Francisco, Kaley Walker, Catrina Pettit, and Audriana Davis; four sisters, Wendy Copenhaver, Corning, NY, Michelle Abrams, Elkland, PA, Leigh Anne Humphrey, LeRoy, NY, and Lesley Gardner-Watkins, Addison, NY; several nieces and nephews, friends, and pets. The family invites all family and friends to a celebration of his life on Friday, February 17th, at The Marigold Manner, Main Street, Elkland, PA, at 6:00. Please come and share memories, tears, and laughs with all who loved and cared for him. If possible, though NOT necessary, the family would appreciate it if you could bring a bite or drink to share. A complete obituary is online at www.kenyonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in care of the Kenyon Funeral Home, Elkland.
