Benjamin, James E.
Age 82, of Elmira, NY passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Singerhoff) Benjamin for 62 years. Born in Elmira, NY on March 24, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Marjorie Benjamin. Jim retired after 40 years of dedicated service from the F.M. Howell Company. He loved music, fly fishing, cooking, gardening and a good glass of wine but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Family was most important to him. He is survived by daughters, Glory Benjamin of Endwell, NY, Carol (Ron) Labuski of West Grove, PA, Kathy (William) Bell of Elmira, NY; sons, Thomas (Brenda) Benjamin of Elmira, NY and Martin Benjamin of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Lisa, Jennie, Ryan (Sissy), Kerianne, Martin Jr., Samantha and Travis; step-grandchildren, Sonya, Peter and Jacob; 11 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters; survived by his brother David and his sister Donna (Rich) Donald. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His final resting place will be at the Veteran's Wall in Woodlawn National Cemetery. At his request, services will be private.
