Betty, Although time has past and we've gone our separate ways, we are so sadden by the lost of Mark. He was blessed on earth and now up above. He was my hero and in a way saved my life by assisting in getting me into the Navy Reserves when I almost was drafted. Mark, know you can hear me, Thank You. Both are very much in Jackie and my memories.

Dear, dear Betty, I just don't know what to say! I have tried several times to write something of comfort to you, and each time it just doesn't seem enough. Then it hit me...I recalled a line from a movie that seemed to sum up everything I was feeling, as well as reflecting everything that was being shared about Mark. The movie was "Brian's Song," and the line was...

"....He also left a great many loving friends who miss and think of him often. But when they think of him, it's not how he died that they remember - but how he lived. How he did live!"

That about sums up your Mark. I can close my eyes, and see Mark riding his bike as I hear those same words being spoken about him. We all, and I do mean ALL, will miss him greatly; more than words can say.....but what we will remember most is how he lived, how he touched us all, and how he will never be forgotten. Please accept my and my Mark's deepest condolences. We are truly blessed to have known such a wonderful human being as Mark. It was, and always will be an honor to say that we were his friends. Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

To Betty and the entire Sheehan Family:
We offer you our deepest sympathy in the loss of Mark. He was a mentor, teacher, and friend to all of us in the SP&C and UC&M departments at NYSEG. We enjoyed his wit and humor in the many years of working with him, and we were better for having known him. He was always dedicated to doing things right, and he was incredibly talented in his field as a technician.
We all understood his great passion for the things he enjoyed most in his life. It was very clear to us, that his family was first in his life, and that his wife Betty, his children, and his grandchildren were a source of great pride to him. He lived life on his terms, and his passion for his sport of cycling was second to none. Our hearts go out to you in your time of grief, but we hope that you can take some comfort in understanding what a special man he was.
