Marvin J. BeGell, age 86, of Savona, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital. He was born on November 23, 1926 in Painted Post, the son of Walter and Anna (Adler) BeGell. He married Dorothy E. Redner on July 13, 1946 at Grace United Methodist Church in Corning. Marvin was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was veteran of the U. S. Navy, loved gardening, building and wood carving, having made many carving tributes for other people. Marvin built several houses locally and worked as a self-employed contractor for many years. He was a member of the Campbell United Methodist Church, Campbell American Legion, Masonic Temple, Savona Fire Department, Savona Village Board, and Savona School Board. Marvin always said if you don't learn something every day, it's time to quit. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. BeGell; children: David BeGell of Mesa, AZ, Dennis (Debbie) BeGell of Savona, Marla (Jim) Gannon of Pine City, and Tina (John) McKinley of Bath; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; brother-in-law, James (Marianna) Redner of Corning; and nieces and nephews. Marvin was predeceased by his sister, Beverdine Fuller and brother, Elroy BeGell. Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Marvin's Life will take place on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Campbell United Methodist Church, 8516 Main St., Campbell, NY.
