A long time resident of the Southport community passed away Sun., Feb. 10, 2013 in Eustis, FL where he had been residing. Born on Dec. 8, 1919 in Elmira Heights, Norbert was the son of the late, Victor J. & Beatrice Smith Gehrig. Norbert was employed by RK&B Inc. for many years as a salesman. Civically he was a longtime member of the Masonic Ivy Lodge # 397 and the Masonic Union-Cooley Lodge # 95 where he achieved the rank of 32nd Degree Mason. His interests included gardening, baseball and bowling. Surviving are his loving children, Ron (Fran) Gehrig, New Paltz, NY; Amy (fiancée, Glenn Long) Crosbie, Eustis, FL; step children, Don (Barb) Crawford, Cicero, NY; sister, Emily Crooks, MD; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Norbert was predeceased by his second wife, Elizabeth J. Heatley Gehrig; stepdaughter, Carole "Jean" Hults; granddaughter, Amber Noble; and son-in-law, Robert Crosbie. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, on Sun. Feb. 17, 2013 between the hours of and 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will take place following visitation at 4:15 p.m. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Officers and Members of the Elmira Lodge # 95 F.A. & M. will meet at the funeral home on Sun.
