PENN YAN: Susan Austin, 70, of Ritchey Blvd., died April 11, 2014, at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. Friends may call at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main, Penn Yan on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. where a memorial service will be held at 2:00. Susan and her late husband Lawrence will be buried in the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion or to Reigning Cats and Dogs. Susan had been very active in the American Legion since 1982 and was the Past County President of Auxiliary Unit 355 and the current Secretary. She was a member of the ProActive Group of Yates County, she regularly attended cardiac rehab where she encouraged others and a member of Reigning Cats and Dogs. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Carrie) Lubberts and Robert (Peggy) Lubberts, both of Corning; her step-daughter, Regina (David) Austin-Mack, Groveland; her sister, Esta (Jeff) Sullivan-Sprague, Rochester; two brothers, Thomas (Helen) Calpus, FL and William (Pamela) Calpus, MN; her sisters-in-law, Millie Austin, Elmira and Carol Austin, also of Elmira; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson Joseph Lubberts.
