May 7, 1926-March 12, 2014: Lenarda Eugenia (Carlson) Wheaton: This lovely lady left the serenity of her home on Lamoka Lake and moved peacefully to her new home in heaven. What a reunion is taking place there with those who predeceased her including her husband of 44 years David R. Wheaton, her parents Charles and Hilda Carlson, a sister Eva and a brother Alfred. She took pride in her Swedish heritage. She was born in Sheffield, PA, graduated from Elkland High School as an outstanding scholar, and then immediately started her career at Corning Glass, retiring from there in 1981 as a financial clerk. She will be missed by her cousin Barbara Hubner, her nieces and nephews, and her close friends Colleen, Connie, Marty, Genny, Bill, Gloria and Christie. She loved her pets and took in any stray that stopped by and made them part of her family. She was an avid reader. She read her Bible through every year. She loved to cook, always trying new recipes whether at home or while she and Dave were camping. Her pastimes included needlework, gardening and canning before Dave passed away, and growing roses. Arrangements are by Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th Street, Watkins Glen, NY. Calling hours are Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm at the funeral home, at the end of which her pastor Joe Auslander will conduct the funeral. Burial will take place Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY. You may sign a guestbook or light a free "Candle of Remembrance" at www.Royce-Chedzoy.com.
