Snyder, Nancy Aleatha Maryott
Nancy Aleatha Maryott Snyder of Westfield, PA born in Glen Falls, NY on July 24, 1933, the only child of the late Frank and Frances Prince Maryott, began her journey into heaven on Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Nancy graduated from the former Westfield High School, Westfield, PA in 1951. She was the class representative for the Cowanesque Valley High School's 2001 graduation ceremony celebrating their 50th reunion. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Elmira College with a bachelor's degree in economics as a member of their centennial class. Nancy was employed by Halle Brother's Department Store in Cleveland, OH as an Assistant Buyer from 1955-1959. Then attended Indiana University graduating with a master's degree and an elementary teaching license in 1961. Then taught for three years in Bloomington, IN. Nancy retired in 1994 after 28 years as a school counselor for the Monroe County Community School Corporation. After her retirement she returned to Westfield to care for her ailing mother. Nancy was married to Paul Snyder in 1959 until their divorce in 1973, who remained close friends. Nancy is survived by her only son, David Maryott Snyder born 1960 and wife Pam; granddaughters, Andria Snyder and partner Cathy Hawkins, Meghan and William Fletcher, Lindsay Snyder and fiancé Trevor Veatch and Lauren Snyder; great grandchildren, Carter, Lola and Elsie, all of Bloomington, IN; late cousin, Peter Cashin's wife Cheyenne and daughter Lisa of Sterling, VA; cousin, Shirley and Ernest Brazel and children of Bakersfield, CA. Her family loved her greatly and will miss her dearly. They will cherish the time spent together and memories created. Nancy was fortunate to have an extended family in Westfield, PA. She was grateful for their love, friendship, caregiving and support. Nancy was predeceased by her faithful dogs, Rover, Heidi, Heather, Holly and recently Hannah; survived by feline Missy. Foremost she was caring and giving to her family, friends and acquaintances. She was a nurturing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and provider. She always had time to listen and valuable wisdom to share. Nancy loved reading and traveling. Her spirit and zest for life will live on in all those who knew and loved her. Nancy lived by the motto "Always remember to be kind to one another and take time to smell the roses". A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church 205 Elm Street Westfield, PA; where Nancy was a member, on Saturday April 5, 2014 beginning at 11AM. Her remains will be buried at the Maryott Family Plot at Oak Hills Cemetery Towanda, PA. Memorial donations may be made in Nancy's name to Animal Care Sanctuary 11765 Route 6 Wellsboro, PA.
