Corning: Nicholas J. Tostanoski, Jr., age 90, of Corning, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on December 26, 1923 in Corning, the son of Nicholas J. Sr. and Mary Theresa (Warshefski) Tostanoski. He married Norma Griswold and she predeceased him on March 3, 1993. Nicholas was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church, a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and he retired from Ingersoll-Rand following 65 years of active and inactive service. He worked for both the Steuben and Schuyler County Sheriff's Departments as a security guard at the race track and other local events. He also worked for the City of Corning Police Department as a parking ticket attendant and he was a volunteer for the City of Corning as an election official. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Hunt of Riverside, CA, Tina (Calvin) Pratt of Elmira, and Christine Andrysick of Corning; son-in-law, David Scott of Corning; grandchildren, Cory Whitehair, Jon Whitehair, April Roberts, Erin Hunt, Amy Erhard, David Scott Jr., April Gebhardt, and Joan Andrysick; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nicholas was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Scott; son-in-law, Mark Andrysick; grandson, Richard Hunt; and three brothers and a sister. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
