Dunbar, Lawrence "Larry"

92, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on May 1, 2014 at Bethany Manor, Horseheads, NY. Larry was born on November 7, 1921, in Attica, NY, to Charles and Margaret Dunbar. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice "Bea" Dunbar (Bates); their daughters, Dawn Piccirillo (Dunbar) and Beth Saunders (Dan) (Dunbar); grandchildren, Brandon (Jenn) Piccirillo, Marcine (Kelly) Willett, Adelle (Chris ) Jarvis, Aaron Saunders, Adam Saunders; great-grandsons, Ethan Piccirillo, Hudson, Foster, Porter, and Ledger Willett, Giovanni and Luca Jarvis and Chase Wessell. Larry worked as a guard at Attica Prison and then moved to Albany for three years as a Maintenance Supervisor; moved to the Elmira area in 1968 to work at Elmira Prison. Larry retired as the Plant Supervisor. After retirement they lived in Florida during the winters and built their retirement home at the age of 70. He was always active in his church and loved and served his Lord and Savior. He will be greatly missed by all that had the wonderful privilege to know him. Special thanks to all at Bethany Manor for the love and care they gave to my husband and our father. Family and friends are invited to visit at Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 noon. His funeral and committal services will follow. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry's memory to Bethany Manor, 3005 Watkins Rd., Horseheads, NY 14845.
