Phillips, Bertha Esther (Bly)

Cayuta: Age 85, of Cayuta, NY went to be with her Father on Sunday, May 25, 2014, as a result of complications of injuries received in a car accident on May 13. Bertha was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Potter County, PA, she was predeceased by her parents, Charles Irving and Laura (Clark) Bly, and siblings Charles Jr., Betty, Albert, and twin sister Ruth. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald M. Phillips and four children: Carol (Thomas)Peters, Odessa, NY; Marc (Anne Morris) Phillips, Anchorage, AK; Daniel (Daneen) Phillips, Burdett, NY; Sharon Douglas with Scott Wheeler and his children, Kennedy and Kaden, Erin, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Nicholas, Jennifer, Samantha, Johnathan, Olivia and Andrea; two great-grandchildren: Karmyn (KK) and Marc; brother-in-law, Arland (Beverly) Phillips; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (John) Ford; along with several nieces and nephews. Bertha loved her family and enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special spot in her heart for animals, especially King her devoted canine companion and protector. She enjoyed square dancing, needle-pointing and cross-stitching, macramé, puzzles, walking, vacations at Myrtle Beach, and traveling to visit with her family. She was a den mother to her son's Cub Scout Troop and was a mmember of the First Presbyterian Church in Horseheads, NY. She avidly supported the Humane Society of Schuyler County. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration on Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 am at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY. Rev.
