BARNES, Jack Curtis
Formerly of Elmira: Age 77, of Elliston VA, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Jack was predeceased by his parents Henry and Dorothea Barnes of Canton, PA, and also five siblings. Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, he made his living as a carpenter, a trade he learned from his father and in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and playing golf, he was also known for grilling delicious BBQ ribs. He was a wonderful, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Priscilla; sons, Jimmy Barnes, Ray Barnes, Patrick Barnes, Eddie Mochrie, Jimmy Lindblad and Stanley Lattimer; daughters, Evelyn Phenes, Yvonne Lindblad and Yolanda Montgomery; brothers, Clark Barnes and John Barnes; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration to honor the life of Jack Curtis Barnes will take place Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Elmira Christian Center, 235 Miller Street at 12:00 (noon). Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
