Milligan, Jean E.

Age 83, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born on September 25, 1930 in Warren, PA to the late Everett and Mabel (Dey) Meas. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Milligan and brother, Fred Meas. Jean is survived by her nephew, Everett (Jacqueline) Meas of Horseheads; nieces, Beverly Dalrymple of Horseheads and Nancy (Marc) Pease of Horseheads; great niece, Reina (Garry) Campbell; great nephews, Michael (Sue) Davis, Shawn Meas and Neal R. Monthie and great-great nephew, Carson Monthie. Special thanks to her longtime friend, Adele Dean for the care and companionship she has shown throughout the years. Jean retired from FW Woolworth as a district manager at which time she began her second career as an Avon representative. She retired last week after 27 years throughout which she received several awards for high sales in the district. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and an active member of the local Eagles Club where she was awarded Mother of the Year. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 7 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Holder officiating. It was Jean's wish that her interment be held privately in Woodlawn Cemetery. Flowers will be welcomed or a memorial donation in Jean's name can be made to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Rte. 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
