Hoffmann, Dorren "Red"

Dorren "Red" Hoffmann, age 85, of Mansfield, PA, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. Dorren was born March 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of Dewey and Esther (Knepp) Hoffmann. He was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Burnham) Hoffmann who passed away in 2003. Dorren was a self-employed truck driver, welder and logger. He was a paratrooper serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Canyon Skydiver's Exhibition Team. Dorren is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Amy Hoffmann of Blossburg, PA; two daughters, Julie Lynne Gerow of Tioga, PA, Sandra Elaine Cogan of Harrison Valley, PA; five grandchildren, Shane, Amber, Michelle, Marcy, and Brandon; several great grandchildren. Dorren was predeceased by his wife, Mary; a sister, Gloria Hoffmann in 1948. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with a committal service with military honors by the Tioga County Honor Guard to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, PA.
