Constance L. (Connie) Keeler Obituary
KEELER, Constance L. (Connie)
CORNING, NY - On August 11, 2010 Connie Keeler found her place and comfort after determinedly battling her illness. Her husband of 60 years, Sonny (Erford) kept his promise to her by allowing her to spend many unexpected months at home in front of her fireplace. She enjoyed countless hours with family who were with her right until that last moment. The job she loved the most was being grandmother to Jamie, Abby, Danny, Andrew, Matthew, and Whitney. Two years ago she beamed with pleasure when she acquired the new title of great grandmother to Rocco. She was pretty good at other jobs as well, but being a loving wife and mother was at the top of the list. She leaves all with many loving, wonderful memories that will ensure she remains with us forever, making us smile as we recall those moments. She will be well remembered and missed by many as she worked 31 years for the Town of Corning. She started as the Bill Collector for Gibson Water District and then became Deputy Town Clerk serving in that capacity until retiring in 2002. She enjoyed the many people she helped during her tenure at the town. In the years as her children were growing, she was very active in the community through the Gibson Fire Department Auxiliary. She did charity work for the , March of Dimes, and served as assistant Den Mother for her sons' scout troops. She was a busy lady being wife, mother, and raising five children. She is survived by her loving husband Sonny (Erford) Keeler of Corning, and children: Dana of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; Allan (Chris) of Corning; Cathie (Jim) Jacobus of Horseheads; Steve (Reegan) of Corning; and Tom of Corning. She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Jamie, Abby, Danny, Andrew, Matthew, and Whitney. She adored her great-grandchild, Rocco. She was pre-deceased by her parents Ross and Edith Reed; siblings Jeannette Maliszesky, Marjorie Zoerb, and William Reed. The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, Corning on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Becker officiating. Interment and committal prayers will follow in Hope Cemetery Annex, Corning. The family welcomes flowers or donations made to the .
