Robert Covert Obituary
Watkins Glen: Robert T. Covert, age 73, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
Robert was born in Burdett, NY on February 8, 1938, the son of the late Leroy and Leona Covert. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellen Covert; children, Jeanne and John Green of Beach Park, IL, Thomas and Pam Covert of Farmington, NY, Beth Ellen Covert of Montour Falls, NY, and Carol and Bill Smith of Montour Falls, NY; grandchildren, Jessica Watson, Patrick Green, Ryan McGrogan, Carly Smith, Amanda Covert, and Robert Covert Jr.; great grandchildren, Kaylee Watson and Jared Watson; brothers, Stanley and Winnie Covert, Roger and Ann Covert, and Norman and Ruth Covert; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his son, Robert A. Covert; daughter Elke Covert; and his wife, Gerlinda Covert. Robert was employed at the former Seneca Engineering Company and was a local grape farmer. He served for six years in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was an avid horseracing fan.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Union Cemetery of Hector on State Rte. 79 in Burdett, NY with the Rev. Tim Hamilton officiating. Friends and family may sign the guestbook at www.haughey-woodfuneralhome.com
