Wallen, Richard F.

Lititz, PA: Richard "Dick" F. Wallen, 66, of Lititz, PA, formerly of Horseheads, NY, died peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his residence after battling COPD for many years. Born in Millville, NJ, he was the son of the late Maxfield and Sylvia Shaw Wallen. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan Eichorn Wallen; two daughters, Stephanie (Chris Fort) Wallen-Fort, Logan Twp., NJ; Gaye (John) Pieters, Swedesboro, NJ; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Bennett, Emma, Jessa, Jack; a brother, Gary (Julie) Wallen, Millville, NJ; mother-in-law, Josephine W. Eichorn of Hammondsport, NY; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Maryanne) Eichorn, Pittsburgh, PA and James (Cornelia) Eichorn, Akron, OH; a cousin, Jeffery (Darlene) Zimmerman, Lititz, PA; several nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Dick dedicated his life to the fire apparatus industry. He graduated from Temple University and the University of Dayton with a degree in engineering. He worked for American LaFrance, LTI and Saulsbury Fire Apparatus in various capacities including engineering, technical support and sales. He grew up in the Millville Fire Department of which his father and brother were members. Dick was a member of the Horseheads and Lititz Fire Departments. Dick was also a fire instructor for the State of NY. He collected fire memorabilia and participated in fire musters. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and vacationing at Keuka Lake, NY. Dick's Life Celebration Service will be held at Spacht Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad St., Lititz, PA on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at Spacht Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that any contributions be made to Cumberland County Fire Training Donation, 637 Bridgeton Ave., Bridgeton, NJ 08302 or to your local fire department, in Dick's memory.
