Painted Post: Wanda O. Wilson Davies, 89, formerly of Corning, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Absolute Care of Three Rivers of Painted Post, NY. Born in Chemung, NY on June 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dorotha (Gridley) Wilson and Harold Wilson of Caton, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Richard L. Davies, who passed away in 2009; and her sons, Richard J. Davies of Corning and Keith M. Davies of Arlington, TX. Wanda and Richard Davies went back to night school in 1965 and both graduated from Corning Community College in 1969 and Elmira College in 1973. Wanda retired from Corning Inc. Salary Administration in 1989 and received her 50 year pin in 2005. Wanda was very active in numerous organizations, including Order of Eastern Star (life member), holding numerous positions, Order of Amaranth-Salurbria Court #81, holding numerous positions including Grand Matron, 14th Armored Division Association Auxiliary, holding numerous positions including past president. She assisted the Finance Office at Watkins Glen International during professional races, including NASCAR. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Corning Chapter #326, B.P.O.E. Elks (wife member), Corning, NY Lodge #1071. She is survived by her son, David W. (Connie) Davies of Painted Post, NY; her sister, Dorotha Williams Gridley of Melbourne, FL; and granddaughters, Jill Davies (J.R.) Miller of Savona, NY, Kimberly Davies (Andrew) Klein of Painted Post, NY, Jessica Davies of Corning, NY; and great-grandchildren, Bryce, Jarred, and Jackson Kibler, Shawn and Sarah Miller, Grace and Lillian Klein. Wanda enjoyed visiting and playing cards with family, especially her nieces and nephews and many friends. She had the opportunity to travel extensively and participated in numerous senior groups in the Greater Corning, NY and Altoona, FL area. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corning, NY and Altoona Methodist Church of Altoona, FL. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 14th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenters Funeral Home LLC, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning. Funeral services will be held there Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.; burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Caton. Flowers will be provided by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, 110 E. First Street, Corning, NY. Friends may light a candle at The family wishes to express their thanks to Ermeritus of Painted Post and their entire staff for making both Richard and Wanda's stay their home.
