Madeline Gillespie Douty Madeline Gillespie Douty, longtime resident of Culpeper, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday night, October 28, 2010.

She was born February 8, 1937 in Lexington, Virginia, daughter of the late Gilbert and Judy Gillespie, and was salutatorian of her graduating class from Lexington High School. Madeline was currently employed at Culpeper Family Practice where she worked for the past 32 years and was an active member of Culpeper Presbyterian Church for her entire 48 year residency in Culpeper.

She is survived by her loving companion T.I. Martin of Culpeper, Virginia; her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Harrison Moore of Fairfax, Virginia; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sonia Douty of Warrenton, Virginia, and her five grandchildren, Jamie, Michael, Christopher, Loren, and Kyle. Madeline is also survived by her brother Paul Gillespie of Lynchburg, Virginia, who fondly honors her memory as a gracious lady and loving Christian. She was preceded in death by her sister Martha Gillespie Gibson and her brother Gilbert McClung Gillespie Jr.

The family will be receiving visitors Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Clore English Funeral Home in Culpeper. Services will be held Monday, November 1 at 10 a.m. at Culpeper Presbyterian Church, with a graveside service to follow at 4 p.m. at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery in Lexington, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in honor of Madeline Douty to Culpeper Presbyterian Church, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or Hospice of the Rapidan in Culpeper, Virginia. Condolences may be given at clore-english.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the
