Mildred Allen Lane Mildred "Millie" Allen Lane, 71, of Locust Grove, passed away December 4, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital. Millie was born December 6, 1938 in Trenton, New Jersey to George and Dorothy Allen. Millie was married for fifty years to Frederick "Ted" Earl Lane.

Also surviving are sisters, Barbara "Bonnie" Marvin of Richmond, Virginia, Linda Robeson and her husband Stuart and step niece Katie of Warrenton, Virginia, Judy Allen of Casanova, Virginia and her mother Dorothy Allen of Locust Grove, Virginia. Millie's father George Allen of Locust Grove, Virginia preceded her in death.

Millie graduated from Mercer Hospital School of Nursing College, in Trenton, New Jersey, as an RN. She was an active member of Brushstrokes Gallery of Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg Center for Creative Arts, Wide River Gallery in Col. Beach, and had works in Mike and Jake's Restaurant, Caroline St. Caf‚ in old town Fredericksburg, as well as Orange Art Center, Village Frame and Gallery, Culpeper Depot and Library, and Wilderness Library and her home gallery. She was an active member, as well as the Chair or Co-chair for many years, of the Lake of the Woods Visual Arts Council. She was an active member of Artists of the Windmore and The Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts.

She served on the Lake Users Committee, was Vice President of the Square Dance Club and was the Vice President of the Scuba Diving Club, ran with Lake of the Woods Rescue Squad and taught CPR. Millie also enjoyed being outdoors, farming, horses and being at the beach.

One of the last of the Culpeper Art Group members. I remember her well at the shows and the meetings. My late mother was very fond of Millie and I will miss seeing her at the gym. My prayers are with Ted and the family. This is so sad.
