I remember Coach as being a very nice, polite and giving person. I was not athletic or in his class but he was always nice to anyone who he met. My prayers go out to his family. May God be his family.

Coach Gray was an institution in Culpeper and will be greatly missed. I know my father thought the world of him when the two of them worked together at CCHS for several years. Few people in this life have the opportunity to touch as many people as Coach Gray did. What a legacy he has left behind. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with Faye, Allison and Laura during this very sad time. With my very deepest sympathy,

Faye, Allison, and Laura,

I am saddened to hear of Coach Gray's passing. He was a wonderful teacher and coach. He inspired and motivated many young people during his years with the Culpeper Schools. I think it can be said that we need more teachers and coaches like Shirley Gray! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Faye, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow. Having just recently met Shirley, it is hard to realize he is no longer with you, but it is obvious from our contact and the many remembrances that he has been a great family man and member of the community. I'm sorry our "reconnect" has taken so many years, but please know you are in my heart and prayers during this time. God Bless.

Coach Gray's wife and family,

It was truly a shock to hear that coach gray had died. We all have lost a true man. I hadn't seen coach gray in years, but my brother Tim, just played golf with him 3 weeks ago. My great friend George Fotenos and I, used to talk about coach and "the good old days" when we used to wrestle for coach...........Great times!!!!
I'll never forget, my senior year, Oct.of 1974, I had been shot in the ankle and was in the hospital.Coach Gray was the only man that came to see me, other than my family, and minister.
Because of my injury, I could not wrestle my senior year. Coach Gray, allowed me to assist him and coach McMullen during the JV, and Varsity wrestling matches. As a young kid, that meant so much to me. I really loved that man. I will never forget Coach Gray.

Faye & Family,

Coach Gray is a name I have known my whole life. This is truly a sad time. I have always loved hearing stories (so many!) about Mr. Gray from my dad and I know the memories will continue to live on. Thank you for being such wonderful friends to my parents. Many thoughts and many prayers are with you all.
