Alex was born Sept. 29, 1992 in Scottsbluff, to Tracy (Lopez) Young and Adam Young. He had lived in Laramie since 2001.
Alex graduated from Laramie High School in 2011. He was a junior at the University of Wyoming majoring in engineering, and worked at the Hilton Garden Inn & Convention Center. He was passionate about sports, especially playing soccer. Alex spent many years playing with the Laramie Blizzards, then the Laramie High School soccer team, and had recently won a spot on the UW Cowboys Club Soccer Team.
A huge fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alex could often be found proudly wearing Husker red, and had no problems sticking up for his team in a town that loves their UW Cowboys. He also loved the outdoors and snowboarding with family and friends.
But above all else, Alex was a beautiful, caring soul with an infectious smile that could light up a room from the time he was little. He was the best son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend any one could ever ask for.
Survivors include his parents, Tracy and Adam Young of Laramie; grandfather, Ted Lopez of Gering; grandparents, Jim and Carole Young of Gering; uncles and aunts Cory and Niki Lopez of Thornton, Colo., Adam and Wendy Lopez of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Aaron and Kodi Young of Crawford; survivors also include his cousins, Jadon Lopez, Brooks and Teddy Lopez, and Shawn, Kaylee and Tamra Young.
Preceding Alex in death was his grandmother, Nedra Lopez. Nedra and Alex shared a very close bond, and had many things in common, including a love of Husker football, March Madness, chocolate and architecture.
