MORRILL - Daniel Schnell, 90, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at New Hope Assembly in Mitchell with Pastor Randy Brotzman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with family members present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be designated at a later date. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jones-mortuary.com. The Jones Mortuary of Mitchell is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dan was born Jan. 22, 1923 in Minatare to George and Margaret (Honstein) Schnell. He attended school in Minatare. Dan married Ruth Scholl on Sept. 14, 1947 in Nisland, S.D. To this union three children were born, Sharon, Tim and Terry. Dan farmed for 35 years in South Dakota and Nebraska where he semi-retired in 1979.
Dan was a faithful member of the Mitchell Assembly of God church for many years. He enjoyed gardening, watching old Western movies, and playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Morrill; children, Sharon Schnell of Irving, Texas, Tim Schnell of Missoula, Mont. and Terry Schnell of Lyman; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauline Ott, of Lawrence, Kan.
Preceding Dan in death were his parents; brother, Harry Schnell; sister, Esther Jordan; and great-granddaughter, Emily Paige Paul.
