Esther was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Scottsbluff to Henry and Amalia (Martin) Hoffman. She received her education in Scottsbluff and married Irvin Dewey on Dec. 4, 1959.
Esther loved the daily life. She wasn't one to be in the spotlight, but loved being involved with her family and friends. She loved to watch birds and go on little vacations with her family. She was an avid Rockies fan. She loved to play the piano; many hymns were played and sang for family right up until her passing. She had a gift of never forgetting a family member's birthday or a special occasion. There was always a card waiting for them on their special day. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morrill.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon (John) Huber of Morrill, Carol Seaman of Loveland, Colo, and Toni Mueller of Fort Collins, Colo; stepdaughters Karen Wagoner of Albuquerque, N.M. and Beverly Reuland of Scottsbluff; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters Bertha Martindale of Scottsbluff and Ruth Messersmith of Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, husband Irvin, brothers Reuben and Edward Hoffman, sister Freda Costa and granddaughters Cheryl Lee Hapes and Pamela E. Hohnstein preceded her in death.
