Harry R. Davis, 88, of Sioux County, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Federated Church in Mitchell with Rev. Dr. Charles H. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at the Mitchell City Cemetery. The United States Air Force will provide military honors.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell.

Harry was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio to Edward H. and Faith M. (Richards) Davis. He graduated from Rayen School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943, serving until 1946. Harry attended the University of Michigan and graduated cum laude from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1948. He met his wife when both were working as chemists at Naval Research Laboratory in Anacostia, Maryland.
Harry married Mary Jo Watson Feb. 28, 1950 in Youngstown. They settled on the Watson ranch in Sioux County at that time, later dividing the time between the ranch and a town home in Scottsbluff as their boys attended school. Harry was a rancher for 62 years, with a long-established Hereford herd.
Survivors include his wife; son, Mark (Sheryl) Davis of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren, Kate (Jesse) Matthews of Calif. and John Davis of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Lilly Davis and Violet Davis; sister-in-law, Marilyn Davis of Hermitage, Pa.; one niece; and a grand-niece.
Preceding Harry in death were his parents; son, Torin in 1971; and brother, William.
