Alice Mary Steensen

Alice Mary Steensen (nee Marks), 89, passed away peacefully on Nov. 29, 2013. Visitation will be held today, Sunday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, N.J. Born and raised in Cedar Grove, N.J., Alice married her childhood sweetheart, Floyd Steensen, and raised her family in Bloomfield, N.J., where she resided for 58 years. She moved to Brick, N.J. in 2004. Alice worked for Meadow Brook in Cedar Grove, and then Westinghouse in Bloomfield, before dedicating herself full time to her family. If you knew Alice as family or friend, all of your life, or just one day, you felt her genuine loving ways. Alice led by example, teaching her family love and consideration. She was an animal lover and former dog sitter. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her household and, most of all, time spent with her beloved family and dear friends. Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Floyd Daner Steensen, in 1998. Surviving are her dear son, John Steensen and wife, Rose, of Arizona; her loving daughter, Diane and "Katie" of Brick; her cherished family friends, John Drexler and Terri Drexler, Lillian Restivo, and Mary Dillon, and her dear grandchildren, Samantha, John, and Sandra.
