Eloise Greene Obituary

Eloise "Pat" Greene was called home on Jan. 11, 2014. She was 84. Visiting will be on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair, with a funeral service to be announced; please visit caggianomemorial.com. Born on Feb. 3, 1929, to Doris and Thomas Greene in Verona, N.J., Pat was one of eight children. She attended Verona schools and graduated from Verona High School in 1947. She attended the Franklin School of Nursing and became a licensed practical nurse. She then worked at Mountainside Hospital for more than 30 years and went on to work for the Montclair Medical Group until her retirement. Pat married William Morris in 1952 and was married for many years. No children came of their union. However, Pat was godmother to her nephew, Alan Greene of Piscataway, N.J., and Joel Love of Verona, N.J. Pat joined Union Baptist Church in 1952 and was an active member until becoming housebound in 2012. Pat loved to travel and go to the Jersey Shore. Belmar was her favorite beach. Pat was predeceased by her parents, and siblings, Thomas Greene, Harry Greene, Egbert Greene, Maurice Greene, and Miriam Wilkinson. She leaves to celebrate her life her sisters, Dagma Mckay and Captonia Raymond, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Greene, all of Montclair, N.J., and a host of nieces and nephews, along with grand- and great-grandnieces and -nephews, friends and acquaintances. Near the end of her life, it was suggested that Pat move to an assisted living facility, which she strongly resisted. She lived out the end of her life in her own home, and on her own terms. Pat always spoke in a soft voice, and it is that soft voice we will all miss dearly. Rest in Peace, The Family.
