Sr. Georgine Marie Conrad O.P.

Sr. Georgine Marie Conrad, O.P., died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at St. Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell, N.J. She was 88. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel, 7 Ryerson Ave. (Mount Saint Dominic) Caldwell, N.J., on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. Visiting will be in St. Catherine Convent, Caldwell, on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Sr. Georgine Marie was born in Irvington, N.J. She entered the Dominican sisters of Caldwell on Aug. 30, 1942, and professed vows on Sept. 2, 1944. Sister earned a bachelor's degree in education and English from Caldwell College and her LPN from the St. Vincent School of Nursing. Sr. Georgine Marie taught elementary grades at St. Joseph School in Union City, N.J., Blessed Sacrament School in Bridgeport, Conn., and St. Virgil School in Morris Plains, N.J. From 1960 to 2010, St. Georgine Marie was active in nursing at St. Catherine of Siena Convent and Healthcare Center in Caldwell, N.J., serving as head of nursing from 1969 to 1987. Sister Georgine Marie is survived by her brother, George Conrad, and was predeceased by her sister, Gertrude Conrad, in 2010.
