John Meilands

John Meilands, 60, died on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at his home in Maplewood, N.J. Interment prayers will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Quakertown, Pa., on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, N.J., on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Born in Montclair, N.J., Mr. Meilands grew up in Bloomfield, N.J., and Cedar Grove, N.J., prior to moving to Maplewood in 2008. He spent his life as a furniture refinisher in the Essex County area. Mr. Meilands is survived by his mother, Rita Meilands (nee Dzintarnieks); his children, Jason and his wife, Dana, Matthew, and Samantha, and their mother, Linda; his brother, Rev. Ivo Meilands and his wife, Patricia, as well as his grandchildren, Ella, Emily and Bianca. Mr. Meilands was predeceased by his father, Helmuts; his sister, Aija, and his brother, Peter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in John's memory.
