Peter J. Cullen Sr.

Peter J. Cullen Sr., 82, of Verona, N.J., passed away on Jan. 8, 2013. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 9 a.m. from Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, N.J. Born in Newark, N.J., to the late Peter L. and Margaret, Peter graduated from St. Benedict's Prep in 1949 and Seton Hall University in 1955. He was a Newark police officer for four years before becoming a teacher and guidance counselor for Irvington High School, retiring in 1999 as head of the guidance department. When not in Verona, he enjoyed his summers at the Ocean Beach Unit 3, where he served as a trustee and president for many years, and winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. Predeceased by his wife, Rosemary, and brother, Joseph, he is survived by his beloved children, Peter Jr., Deborah Cullen, Marianne Giordano and her husband, Louis, and Barbara Cullen; his loving grandchildren, Michelle Nunez and her husband, Wilson, and Matthew Giordano, and siblings, Edward Cullen and Patricia Hagen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church Street, Verona, N.J.
