Robert R. Ferrara CPA

Robert Ferrara, 68, of Pine Brook, N.J., passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home, with his loving family at his bedside. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Saint Aloysius Church, Fleming Avenue, Newark, N.J., at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at Rucki-Bernauer Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette St., Newark, N.J. The family will be receiving family and friends on Monday, April 22, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Newark, N.J., to Casper and Antoinette Ferrara, Bob went on to serve in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1967, Bob went on to attend night school at the Newark campus of Rutgers University, where he earned a degree in accounting. Bob started and built up his own CPA practice and had an office in West Caldwell, N.J., where he practiced accounting for 30 years. He was also a member of the AICPA and NJSCPAs. Bob became an active member of the American Legion, and later went on to become commander of the Howard F. Schwartz American Legion Post 408, Newark, N.J. Bob is survived by his loving wife and friend, Catherine (Calascione) of 47 years. Also surviving are his loving son and two daughters, son, Robert and his wife, Kimberly, of Florham Park, N.J.; daughter, Nicole Healy of Andover, N.J., and daughter, Wendy Jansen and husband, Jeff, of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Danielle, Nicholas, Daniel, Jake and Luke. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Peter Schmidt of Hope, N.J., Henry Schmidt of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Jeffery Schmidt of Fords, N.J., and their wives; sisters-in-law, Andrea Calascione of Fredericksburg, Va., Marie Sperduto of San Gabriel, Calif., Carol Gerrity of North Port, Fla., Theresa Masarik of Howell, N.J., Cynthia Pumar of Freehold, N.J., and their husbands; and niece, Debora Warren of Budd Lake, N.J. Bob also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
