Ruth Wiedman Marsters, 92, of Montclair, N.J., died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at First Baptist Church, 1 Washington St., Bloomfield, N.J., at 3 p.m. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield. Please express condolences at www.oboylefuneralhome.com. Born on May 1, 1921, in East Orange, N.J., Ruth Wiedman grew up and lived for 35 years in Montclair, graduating from Montclair High School. She went on to graduate from Miami University of Ohio with a bachelor's degree in business. Returning after college to New Jersey, she worked in Manhattan, and then later for many years at Bloomfield-Glen Ridge-Nutley-Belleville Board of Realtors. She married Russell Marsters in 1959, and together they made their home in Bloomfield and had two daughters, Edith and Marnie. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother, and also actively supported her husband's work as a realtor with Marsters Agency. An observant Christian, she was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church until her marriage, when, with her husband, she became part of a Reformed Presbyterian (Convenanter) Church in Montclair. For the past 40 years, she and her family had been active in First Baptist Church of Bloomfield. In addition, Ruth was very involved in community life, including the Montclair Operetta Club and the Bloomfield Historical Society. For many years she served on the Board of the Bloomfield League for Family Service. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Russell Marsters; and by her sister, Edith Wiedman. She is survived by her daughter, Edie Marsters Chandler and husband, David, of New Hartford, Conn.; her daughter, Marnie Marsters Lamberson and husband, Michael, of Glen Ridge; her sister-in-law, Judith Allen, of Strong, Maine; six grandchildren, Isaac, Abigail, and Samuel Chandler, and Matthew, Catie, and Elizabeth Lamberson; a niece, Dr. Deborah Marsters Parrott and family, of Woodville, Nova Scotia, Canada; and two nephews, Dr. David Marsters and family, of Canning, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Bruce Wallace and family, of Bend, Ore.; as well as many extended family members. Donations may be sent in Mrs. Marster's memory to the Montclair Ambulance Unit, 95 Walnut St. Montclair, N.J. 07042.
