Suzanne Swick Obituary

Suzanne Vernon Swick , 83, of Montclair, N.J., died Sept. 30, 2013, at the Daughters of Israel in West Orange, N.J., after a short illness. The family will receive friends and relatives in her memory on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Caggiano Memorial, Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St., Montclair, N.J., caggianomemorial.com. Sue was an active resident in Montclair, volunteering in the Montclair public schools, the Montclair-Newark Junior League, the Montclair Republican Party, and the Garden Club of Montclair. Flower design became her passion for the last 20 years of her life. She was an active member of the Garden Club of Montclair and the State of New Jersey Garden Club. Sue was a past president of the Garden Club of Montclair as well as a master judge. Sue provided beautiful flower arrangements over the years for many events at the Montclair Art Museum, the Crane House and Garden Club, just to name a few. Sue is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ted Swick; daughter, Jennifer Swick Amadeo; son, Ford Vernon Swick; son-in-law, Ralph Brownlee Amadeo, and loving grandchildren, Michael Anthony Amadeo, and Maggie Suzanne Amadeo. Sue was predeceased by her brother, Roger B. Vernon, former mayor of Madison, N.J., her mother, Helen B. Vernon, and her father, Roger E. Vernon.

Mrs. Swick was a wonderful woman, and
had a great sense of humor. We had the pleasure of working with her years ago during her kitchen renovation. Our sincere condolences to her son and daughter. Michael and Elaine Boyette
